What would a Jurassic Safari be without a T-Rex Enclosure?! We are pleased to announce Macroceli, the massive gluttonous tyrannosaur as our special guest.
Macroceli is an Illustrator by trade, working from his home in Chicago, USA. His talents are as remarkable and unique as his giant fat character and will be a great addition to the Jurassic Safari!
From the very beginning, Macroceli has been a selfless friend to FurDU, supporting our convention each year with exceptional art, from amazing t-shirt designs to conbook, badge and poster art. We are honoured to welcome him as our special guest of 2015.
Jay first read The Hobbit when he was five years old. Ever since then, fantasy fiction, and especially dragons, has been a major part of his life, so it was of no great surprise when he started writing his own stories. Under the name J.F.R. Coates, he has already released two novels in his epic fantasy world of Farenar. Axinstone and Impossible Magic will soon be followed by Fate of Three and many other planned books. Through Jaffa Books, the publishing company he set up four years ago, Jay has also released many other quality works from both within and outside the fandom.
Despite being more stereotypically English than The Queen, Jay has lived in Brisbane for the last ten years and just can’t see himself leaving any time soon.
In the tradition of previous years, we conclude our FurDU experience by giving something back to the local community. The charity auction affords you the opportunity to score yourself some neat memorabilia from your time at FurDU or some amazing wares donated by very generous members of our community. All proceeds of the charity auction are directly donated to our charity the Animal Welfare League of Queensland (AWLQ) whom in Queensland alone, take care of tens of thousands of strayed and abandoned animals every year. Collectively over the years we have raised over $10,000 for the AWLQ, which has gone to helping our furry friends find forever homes. You can find additional information about the AWLQ here.
Please email us if you’d like to donate artwork or items to the charity auction. You're also welcome to donate items during the convention.
Each year the FurDU conbook serves as a guide to your convention experience and to showcase the work of furries in the community in the form of a take-home souvenir. If you’d like to have your work featured along the work of scores of other world class artists, read on! Be sure that your submission follows all the basic guidelines below.
Images look different in print to how they do on screen. Remember that some colours may desaturate or shift slightly as an effect of the printing process. We'll do everything we can to reproduce your work as faithfully as possible.
By submitting your work for the FurDU Conbook, you agree to allow us to print, post and reproduce it. You will be credited when your work is used and as the creator, you retain the right to your intellectual property.
